The Curriculum at Castle Park is comprehensive and broad in order to educate the whole child. We follow the Irish Primary Curriculum but extend it in many ways especially through the use of specialist teachers who have access to dedicated facilities. The core curriculum subjects of English, Irish, Mathematics, History, Geography and SPHE (Social, Personal and Health Education) are generally taught by the Form Teacher. The other subjects (Art, French, Games, ICT, Music, Physical Education, Religious Education, Science and Spanish) are taught by specialists who get to know pupils very well over the course of their six years in the Prep Department.

In all classroom there are extensive ICT resources, hardware and software, including an interactive whiteboard in every Prep Form Room as well as in the ICT room, Science Laboratory and Modern Language classroom. All staff, teachers and support staff, benefit from regular training in areas related to children’s learning – continuous professional development is part of our culture.
