Science

Science is taught by a specialist teacher in a dedicated laboratory. Science education at Castle Park is about developing an understanding and making sense of our environment. This enables pupils to take responsibility for their role in the maintenance of a healthy life and the creation of a safe environment.

When pupils learn Science they are obtaining a set of skills and a body of knowledge that will, undoubtedly, be required for the essential routines of life. It is not taught simply to prepare pupils for a qualification required by future employers. Scientific investigation skills are also required for learning across the whole curriculum, e.g. Art (mixing colours), Geography (understanding the cause of weathering of rocks). Therefore, at Castle Park School, Science is viewed as an integral and essential component of the whole curriculum.
