Sport – PE and Games
Participation in Physical Education and Games is central to the Castle Park philosophy of ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body’. Our extensive sports programmes and facilities aim to bring out the best in every child and to develop the seeds of a lifelong interest in physical activity. Responsibility for curricular and extra-curricular programmes is under the direction of our Director of Sport, a highly-qualified and specialist PE teacher. There is also a head of Girls’ Games to ensure a balance in the delivery of PE.
We offer a wide-ranging programme of rugby, hockey, cricket, soccer, Gaelic football, hurling, tennis, rounders, athletics and basketball. The PE curriculum incorporates outdoor pursuits, including orienteering, and health-related fitness from a young age.
The School has its own indoor sports hall, heated swimming pool, playing fields and an all-weather hockey pitch. There is a comprehensive programme of inter-House competitions and a full schedule of sports fixtures with other schools for boys’ and girls’ teams.
