The Centenary Development Plan

A Vision for the 21st Century

To mark the beginning of the second century since its foundation in 1904, Castle Park launched an ambitious investment programme designed to create a world class educational facility here in Dalkey that will benefit every pupil in the School as well as the wider community. To support these plans, the Board of Directors sold a small portion of our land, which will eventually see the sensitive development of a small number of well designed residential apartments and townhouses. This development was critical to ensuring the continued preservation of Castle Park at this exceptional location.

The outstanding new facilities, which opened in September 2008, reinforce the long-standing community ethos of Castle Park with an internal ‘Street’ at the centre of the  new development. Just as there are different identities located along the ’street’ in the small town or community (residential, business, recreational etc.), our new school has various educational identities including, for example, the Early Years Montessori Dept, Sport facilities, School Office,  Science Laboratory, access to Junior Classroom corridor,  Assembly Hall etc.  all sited along our internal ’street’.

The magnificent castellated building, that has housed Castle Park School for over one hundred years was restored and continues to be at the heart of the School. The ‘Specialist’ classrooms such as the FitzGerald Art studio,  the Parker Library,  an upgraded Computer (ICT) Laboratory, Apple Creative Suite, Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) room and the Music Department are all to be found in the Castle.
