ICT
Computer literacy, information and communication technology (ICT), or multi-media studies are an integral part of most subjects. A modern computer network provides teachers and pupils with the latest hardware and software, enabling us to deliver our rigorous curriculum in a modern way. All classrooms benefit from an interactive whiteboard, and separate IT and Creative (Apple Mac) Suites are available to all pupils. Children learn how to produce and edit music digitally, make podcasts and create movies. They learn how to source, evaluate and use information from the multitude of sources and formats available to them.
During the Summer Term 2011 we trialled the use of iPad tablet computers in a small number of classes to enhance teaching and learning. This September this pilot project will be extended and tablet devices will be deployed across the School in a limited, but determined, way. The resources that take full advantage of this technology are gradually coming on stream internationally and we will be working closely with some of our Irish publishers to avail of the new possibilities these devices offer. |
