RE
Castle Park is an interdenominational school with a strong Christian ethos which welcomes children from all denominations and other faiths.
RE is taught as part of the curriculum and is augmented by weekly visits to Assembly from the local Church of Ireland Rector and the local Roman Catholic Priest. Children are prepared for First Holy Communion and Confirmation as appropriate. Many of our Assembly themes are based on the liturgical calendar, such as Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter, but we are also keenly aware of the need to familiarise children with the basic tenets of other major world faiths, including Judaism and Islam. The customs of other nationalities, for example, Thanksgiving and Chinese New Year, as well as environmental concerns such as global warming and energy conservation also feature in our annual cycle of “Themes of the Week”. |
