ART AND DESIGN
All pupils work with a full time specialist art teacher, children in Forms I and Form II have one hour per week, Forms III – VI have two hours. Our art curriculum aims to enrich and develop pupils’ appreciation of Art and Design, through practical exploration of the visual elements, design issues and the history of art. Children develop the ability to describe, discuss and evaluate each other’s work and the work of artists and designers. Involvement in whole school art activities, seasonal art projects, in-house and national art competitions allows pupils to showcase their artistic talents.
The FitzGerald Art Studio has two rooms which have an abundance of natural light and stunning views. The new school benefits from 12 art installations by famous Irish artists who were commissioned to create these pieces to enhance the learning environment. In addition, the children’s work is displayed throughout the School, creating a colourful and stimulating environment for all to enjoy. Each year there is a major exhibition when parents and friends are invited to review the year’s work.
