MONTESSORI ROUTINE EVENTS
Our school day - the Montessori day begins at 8.50am, but if parents need an earlier start, pupils can be looked after from 8.00am. Registration is followed by circle time when pupils share their news and discuss various themes and topics. Classtime continues until 11.10am when a snack is followed by playtime in the playground until 11.30am. Junior pupils finish school at 12.30pm. The Seniors eat their packed lunch at 12.30pm and remain in class until 2.00pm. Pre-Prep children join the Prep department children for a hot lunch at 12.30pm and return to class from 1.30pm until 3.00pm, except on Swimming and Library days, when they finish at 3.30pm.
Once a week there is a whole department assembly, lead by the Headmaster or Head of Montessori, where a theme is introduced through the telling of a story and the children’s news and achievements are shared. The Pre-Prep children also join the Prep department assembly once a week.
An educational Day Care facility is available for all Montessori children and is open until 6.30pm daily.
Our school year – there are approximately 170 teaching days divided into three terms in our academic year. The Autumn Term runs from the beginning of September to Christmas, the Spring Term is from January to Easter and the Summer Term runs from after Easter (March/April) until the end of June. There is a two week mid-term break in the Autumn Term and a one week break in the Spring Term. |
