2000 - 2010

2000s

The new millennium was celebrated by planting a time capsule in the Rose Garden, the contents of which include a newspaper, a school tie and jumper and a homework notebook.

In 2004 the School celebrated its first centenary.  President Mary McAleese visited us on C P Day and a commemorative tree was planted in front of the Castle.  At the end of the summer term 2004 Mr Collings left the School after 15 years as Headmaster, subsequently Mr Denis McSweeney became the fifth Headmaster.

A Centenary Development Plan was launched in 2004 by the Board of Directors under the leadership of Chairman Mr Alexis FitzGerald.  An ambitious plan to redevelop the campus and introduce unrivalled and modern educational and sporting facilities was implemented over the next few years.

In September 2008, after a year in temporary accommodation, we moved into the new school with its 25m swimming pool and outstanding academic and sports facilities. The Castle Park Swim Academy and Sports Centre was launched so that the local community could once again benefit from our pool as well as our Sports Hall and Astroturf.
