GOLF
It is reported in the 1947 edition of the Castle Park Old Boys’ Society Annual Report that:
“The first Castle Park Old Boys Golf Competition took place at Kingstown Golf Club on Tuesday, 22nd April. The weather was reasonably kind, though there were some very heavy showers and a strong wind. 14 competitors gallantly set out, and both W P Toone and D Figgis came down and gave the enthusiasts a warm send off.”
The Old Cepian Golf Society is still active, with a small membership. They compete in two events annually – the Union of Irish Schools Competition and the Association of Schools Unions Competition.
The most recent event this year, the ASU, took place on Friday 8th July at Beech Park Golf Club. Any Old Cepians interested in taking part in future events, or joining the Golf Society, are most welcome and should contact oldcepians@castleparkschool.ie for further information.
