PREP OVERVIEW
There are six Forms in the Prep Department, pupils enter Form I at the age of six and progress through to Form VI by the age of 12+. There is a seamless transition from the Montessori Department as Pre-Prep pupils (Senior Infants) are gradually introduced to the routines and structures of the Prep Department during their final year in the Montessori Department.
Each Form, or year group, is divided into two class groups, with a dedicated Form Teacher in each, and class sizes generally do not exceed 20 pupils.
The School recognises the special benefit for children of experiencing the senior years of the Prep Department (Forms V and VI) at Castle Park. Leadership, independence and teamwork are fostered, and our children approach the transition to secondary school with confidence and maturity.
The Prep Department day begins at 8.40am and ends at 3.30pm. Pupils have 25 hours of curriculum learning time per week followed by extensive opportunities for extra-curricular activities from 3.30 – 4.30pm daily, and Day Care that includes supervised homework and tea is available until 6.30pm every day in term time. |
