Music & Performing Arts

Boys recorder playing

Music, which is taught by a highly qualified and experienced specialist music teacher, is at the heart of the School’s creative arts programme. The department is based in the Music Centre at the end of the central Street and is equipped with a wide range of resources. The core strands of performing, composing, listening and responding form the basis of the timetabled provision for all pupils in the School from Pre-Prep 1 to Form VI. Children can also opt to study piano after school with one of our visiting peripatetic teachers and individual or small group lessons in guitar, string, woodwind, voice and percussion are also available.

Castle Park School has a long tradition of performance including regular concerts and recitals, an annual Carol Service, Plays Week and a School Musical performed by senior pupils; every pupil performs regularly for audiences in excess of one hundred. Parents are invited to attend these popular occasions, details of which are published in the termly and weekly calendars. Participation in local festivals and competitions and visits to sing carols at local nursing homes are also regular events.
