The 1960s began with much sadness for Castle Park School: the Founder, W P Toone, died in October 1960 and then shortly after, in 1961, Headmaster D S Pringle also died suddenly.

For a year, the School was run by two members of staff, Mr Parker and Mr Whitfield. 1961 saw the departure of a long-term member of staff, Mr Edwardes.

In 1962, Palmer Carter arrived to become Castle Park’s next Headmaster.

The decade was a period of significant physical development at the School with the construction of: the Headmaster’s house; the dining hall and kitchen; a new classroom wing; and the swimming pool.

1n 1967 Castle Park became a charitable trust.
