CP Day – Castle Park celebrates 115th Birthday
On Friday, 15th March we celebrated Castle Park School’s 115th birthday. This day marks the purchase of Castle Park by Mr Wilfred P. Toone, founder and the first headmaster of Castle Park.
The morning started when the whole school came together for Assembly. Mr McSweeney, our Headmaster, spoke about Castle Park both in the past and present. The birthday cake was then cut by nine of our Form VI pupils who have been here since Pre-Prep One. Following the cake cutting everyone made their way outside to the front of the Castle for the raising of the School flag. After a short house meeting to go over the plans for the day, they all converged on the Astro Pitch to play the Crocodile game, a much-loved tradition of CP Day. Then it was back inside for hot chocolate and birthday cake.
The ‘Teacher Hunt’ then followed, where the Prep children, in their house teams, searched high and low around the School for their teachers. Once that came to an end the children made then made their way to the Dining Hall where they chatted and recounted their experiences, as they ate lunch in their house groups.
In the afternoon we were delighted to welcome many Old Cepians back to the School. They joined our Form VI pupils for games in the Sports Hall and for refreshments afterwards.
It was a wonderful day of celebration and will have created many lasting memories for the children.
